LEAR

by Young Jean Lee

Obvious Dad

Chattanooga Premiere

Description: A warped, rambunctious, metatheatrical exploration of the intersections of memory and representation. LEAR is a collision of Shakespeare's King Lear, Sesame Street, and Lee's unique exploration of coping with a father's mortality. Unlike the original, it shifts focus to the adult children who abandoned their suffering fathers. This absurdist tragedy delves into themes of familial duty, despair, and mortality's inevitable end.
